August 24th 2022 will mark six months since the unprovoked Russian invasion of Ukraine began. It will also mark 31 years since Ukraine gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. This is an especially historic Independence Day as Ukraine is once again fighting for its freedom from Russian control and aggression.
At this critical time in the war, Unite With Ukraine is now focused on assisting the Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation and United 24 with creating an “Army of Drones”.
The aim of the project is to raise enough funds to purchase 200 professional unmanned drone systems for aerial reconnaissance. Once purchased, the focus will shift to delivery, maintenance, and replacement, as well as pilot training. Drones are vital equipment that Ukraine’s defenders need to fend off the Russian invasion.
The Army of Drones will allow the defenders of Ukraine to monitor without interruptions, an enormous 2470 km stretch of frontline which will allow for the most effective response to enemy attacks.
Paul Grod, the President of the Ukrainian World Congress said, “These past six months have been unimaginably difficult for Ukrainians. No one wants to see their country under attack like this and the death and destruction we have witnessed is a real stain on European history.
The men and women who have stayed behind in Ukraine to fight for our freedom are some of the bravest people I have ever met. It is our duty, as part of the Ukrainian diaspora, to continue to do everything we can to help the defenders of Ukraine at this critical juncture.
I am urging all supporters of Ukraine to please donate anything they can so that we can build the Army of Drones and defeat the Russian army once and for all. As we celebrate 31 years of independence from the Soviet Union we are reminded once again of Ukraine’s hard-won freedom and why we must continue to fight until all of Ukraine is free once again.”
In July 2022, the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to support the UNITED24 fundraising platform. The first joint project is the "Army of Drones". This program includes drone procurement, delivery, maintenance and replacement, as well as pilot training.
The project will raise funds to purchase 200 professional unmanned drone systems for aerial reconnaissance. They are vital equipment that Ukraine's defenders need in order to fight off the Russian invasion.
The Drone Army will allow the defenders of Ukraine to constantly monitor an enormous 2 470 km frontline and support an effective response to enemy attacks.
UNITED24 was launched by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy as the main venue for collecting charitable donations in support of Ukraine. Funds will be transferred to the official accounts of the National Bank of Ukraine and allocated by assigned ministries to cover the most pressing needs.
