Ruslan, also known by his callsign "Maloy," is originally from Bakhmut. Prior to February 24, 2022, he worked in Kyiv. Following the full-scale Russian invasion, he joined the 207th battalion of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the capital.
Ruslan accepted the responsibility of a sapper in the engineering unit of the 207th. Initially, their tasks involved engineering, reconnaissance, and the disposal of unexploded ordnances left in the Kyiv region, when the Ukrainian army expelled the Russian occupational forces in early April 2022. In late February 2023, the battalion was deployed to the front line near Bakhmut.
🤜On one occasion, "Maloy" went on an engineering reconnaissance mission as part of an airborne unit. Their mission was to provide cover for their mates. During aerial surveillance of enemy positions, the operator lost contact with the drone, and it crashed. "Maloy" saved the situation. "I managed to traverse rather dangerous terrain, reach the drone, and return it to the group. Of course, I felt fear, but we could continue working, and that was the main objective — to complete the mission. Together, we are strong, and each person contributed their maximum effort. Driving Russian occupying forces out of our native land is a matter of honor. I exert maximum effort for the victory to finally happen!" he recalls. Previously civilians, these territorial defenders are now conducting military operations in the most dangerous places on the frontline. We must show our support for them and help bring the victory closer. Join in! 👉 https://unitewithukraine.com/donate
